We offer a range of dance classes, catering to both recreational and competitive dancers in various genres and schedules. Our aim is to develop versatile dancers who gain familiarity with many different styles of dance. Our classes focus on technique and the ability to connect with music through movement. We emphasize the artistry of dance, allowing dancers to experience and interpret music through multiple senses. Our training focuses on the dancer as a whole, with both physical and mental health as a priority. Additionally, we value teaching the history and culture of different dance genres to honor, understand and respect the traditions that formed each type.

We look forward to dancing with you!

AGES 3-4 “EXPLORERS”

Our youngest students are ages 3-5 and are those ready to explore the world of dance! These dancers spend their time learning basic classroom etiquette skills and are introduced to simple dance moves. It is really about exploring interaction with others and their own bodies in time and space. Classes include Creative Movement and Tiny Tumblers.

Preschool Program: Explorers - Ages 3-5: Creative Movement

AGES 5-7 “PROTOSTARS”

The early elementary age is where students are forming their dance identities as new stars! These classes expand on classroom etiquette, teach the foundations of each class genre they are enrolled in, including how to honor roots of the art form, and begin to find their own performance qualities. Classes include Jazz/Hip Hop, Ballet, Tap, and Acro.

Kinder Program: Protostars - Beginner Dancers Ages 5-7: Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, Acro

Ages 7-10 “RISING STARS”

Our older elementary-aged students are realizing their potential and learning to rise to the occasion. This level usually includes more advanced 7-8 year olds and new students ages 9-10. Here dancers expand on basic dance knowledge and begin to really shine through learning better control and more in-depth performance skills, as well as honing classroom focus! Classes include ballet, jazz, hip hop, pom, tap, musical theater, and acro! Dancers at this age may be invited to participate in our Minis competition team, and can sign up for our Recreational Performance Team.

Elementary Program: Rising Stars - Beginner Dancers Ages 7-10: Ballet, Jazz/Hip Hop, Tap, Pom, Acro

Ages 9-14 “SUPER STARS”

Dancers in this level are typically Middle/Junior High school students and early level High schoolers. The 9-11 year olds in this level typically have more advanced dance experience, with the 11-14 range just starting dance. Here goals are more specific to skills in each genre, and a higher level of etiquette, movement and performance quality is seen. Classes may include ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern, lyrical, pom, musical theater, hip hop, tap, and acro. Dancers at this age are eligible to audition for our competition team, Imagery.

Tween/Teen Program: Super Stars - Beginner/Intermediate Dancers Ages 9-14: Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Pom/Recreational Team, Contemporary, Lyrical, Acro

Ages 12+ “SUPER NOVAS”

This is the highest level of dance in the FDC journey! These dancers are typically more experienced Junior High aged (12-13) and High School aged dancers with some experience. New dancers ages 16+ are welcome in this level, as well as experienced collegiate dancers. This level is expanding on all previous level skills and can be challenging in both technique and required focus and commitment in class. This is where the true grit and reward lies for reaching both personal and team goals! All attire for classes is to be black.

Senior Program: Super Novas - Advanced Dancers Ages 12+: Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Modern, Lyrical, Pom, Acro, Pre-Pointe, Pointe

ADULTS “NEUTRONS”

This level is for adults that just want to have fun, and either learn something new or expand on previously learned skills. Whether you’ve never been on a dancefloor or are wanting to dust off those old dance shoes, you are welcome in this level! We currently have adult classes such as weekly Zumba fitness and monthly hip hop. Summer will provide some specialty classes like Bellydance! We are looking to start a more robust adult program so fill out this form with your interest!

Neutrons - Adults (Click for our current Adult Schedule): Zumba Dance Fitness, Dance Exploration, Meditation/Stretch, Monthly Hip Hop

ACRO PROGRAM - TINY TUMBLERS, LEVEL 1, LEVEL 2, LEVEL 3

Our Acro Dance program incorporates both acro skills and dance technique that creates extremely strong and versatile dancers! This program is based on skill levels and not ages to provide the safest and most efficient training. We follow the Acro Dance Teachers Association Program Syllabus, which include checklists for each skill family and progression. This list is used to asses the leveling of each student and the beginning, middle, and end of the dance season. The levels we offer are as follows:

Tiny Tumblers - This is the only age-based level and is for 3-5 year olds who have no acro experience, and want to learn basic body connection tumbling and strength building moves such as crabwalks, bear crawls, front rolls, beginning/baby cartwheels, and basic acro positions. This is a game-based class, similar to Creative Movement, to give them the confidence and strength required for a beginning acro level class. This level is considered a Pre-Junior Level.

Acro 1 - This level is our Junior Level and is for the beginning acro student that has a basic grasp of the concepts in Tiny Tumblers through their everyday play. This level includes teaching skills such as cartwheels, handstands, bridges, needles, tripods, chin stands, splits, kickovers, and more!

Acro 2 - This level is our Junior/Intermediate level and builds upon skills learned in Acro 1, and will require those skills to be mastered before moving into this level. This level will perfect those skills on both the right and left sides and move on to more variations, walkovers, backbends, and beginning preps for power skills like aerials and back handsprings.

Acro 3 - This is an intermediate/advanced level that expands upon the Acro 2 skills and requires an assessment and teacher approval to join. If wanting to enroll in Acro 3, sign up for Acro 2 where an assessment will take place the first class. The skills require much more strength, balance, and flexibility and hand-eye coordination. More variations and advanced skills will be learned and perfected such as aerials, arabians, handsprings, and more as dancers are able. It’s up to them how far they can go in this level!

If you are interested in Acro Dance at FDC and are unsure of the level you fit, please enroll for your best guess and we will make adjustments from there. Acro levels 1-3 during the season are scheduled at the same time so level adjustments are easy throughout the season as dancers progress and that makes for best learning of the class as a whole.

We have several levels of classes based on age and experience. Some age ranges overlap to allow for dancers to be placed where they will learn best.

For current classes by ages and day/time see the Registration & Class Schedules page or for an alphabetical class listing see the Class Listings page.

Our program is family friendly with competitive pricing and a tuition cap for Premium Members and discounts for Member families with multiple students in our recital season classes. We offer several fundraisers throughout the year for our studio Members. Funds raised are credited straight to your dancer’s account (they do not go to FDC). Tuition is billed in monthly installments for a 9 month dance season. We also offer shorter 6 week sessions throughout the year, typically one in fall, spring, and summer for families that cannot commit to a full season.

We finish our RECITAL season with a professional show that allows students to demonstrate their skills and choreography they have learned throughout the season. Performing teaches extremely valuable life skills and students shine on stage!!! You’ll be amazed at how a single performance will change your child’s confidence!
