Synergy is for the dancer who wants to take their training up a notch with a higher level of commitment to the craft. Synergy members develop skills in teamwork, discipline, confidence, integrity, leadership, artistry, and of course technical skills. First and foremost, Synergy is ONE team no matter the age or experience of the dancer, and each dancer is expected to work with their teammates with the same dedication they give to their personal practice. We teach team members how to have a Growth Mindset through mindfulness activities and training so that they can learn to approach life with a curious, more positive outlook that will allow them to see challenges as opportunities for growth. We also recognize that kids have lives outside of dance, and therefore try to work with other schedules if possible and known in advance, so that they can be well-rounded and happy dancers eager to attend classes. We also strongly believe in maintaining the integrity of our dancers, not only in character, but also in protecting their safety through age-appropriate dance moves, music, and costuming. We carefully select conventions and competitions that have a stellar reputation for youth safety and reflect shared values.
Synergy Team members typically include dancers ages 9 and up and participate in a two-day grouping session in late summer to form the dances for the upcoming season.
Dancers ages 6-9 may participate in our Minis Competition Team that has less commitment and is a great way to introduce dancers to competition.
Dancers ages 9 and up not quite ready for the full team commitment may participate in our Junior Competitive Team.
During the full season, Competition Team Members are required to attend the weekly choreography class for their competitive dance and additional weekly classes based on the team level. Our highest commitment level team attends 1-2 conventions, 3 regional competitions, and a national competition each year. We make every effort to support well-rounded dancers who have outside activities such as band, choir, and other sports activities. We want dancers to not feel trapped by dance and experience life as a kid. However, it is expected that scheduled team classes and events take priority as much as possible aside from school grade-based activities. It must be recognized that if not everyone is in attendance for rehearsals it will affect the team as a whole, and that sacrifices from each side is necessary. All conflicting schedules must be communicated as soon as known, and a plan created. Communication is key!
All Team members must commit to a Code of Conduct and conduct themselves as representatives of Fusion Dance Center, consistent with studio rules, and in a manner that reflects the highest standards. Our team members are expected to be role models both in and out of the studio. We want all team members to find satisfaction and joy in their work and discover their unique talents; however, this is not a recreational experience and the expectations are high, but ultimately rewarding!
